The Singapore Standards for Good Agricultural Practice (SS 670, SS 675, SS 676) aim to build up the local agri-food industries’ capability and capacity by helping farmers improve productivity and provide quality assurance of their produce, as well as meet the market’s demand for sustainable and ethical produce.
What is the purpose of Good Agricultural Practice in Singapore?
Good Agricultural Practice guides farms on farm management in response to the increasing the increasing market demand for high quality farm produces and responsible farming while addressing emerging farming systems and technologies.
Why should farms be certified for Good Agricultural Practice?
Products from GAP certified farms will be recognized as local, high-quality, and ethically-farmed produce, distinguished from others in the market. Farmers can look forward to an increased demand for their certified produce and higher awareness of their brand.
What is covered under Good Agricultural Practice?
SS 670 Specification for Good Aquaculture Practice applies to open-cage farming, pond farming, closed containment systems for fish, crustaceans, and molluscs.
